Tennessee Vols get overtime win over #18 Purdue

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsParadise Island, Bahamas – A pair of late rallies lifted Tennessee to a 78-75, overtime victory over No. 18 Purdue on Wednesday afternoon in the opening game of the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis.
 
The Vols (3-0) got 22 points from sophomore Grant Williams—all of which came after halftime—while junior Kyle Alexander turned in his first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Lamonte Turner (17 points) and Admiral Schofield (10) also finished in double figures.
 
Trailing 73-68 with 2:45 remaining in overtime, Tennessee used a 10-2 run over the final minutes to clinch its first win over a top-25 non-conference opponent since December 14th, 2014, when UT defeated No. 15 Butler.

Montgomery County Government Departments to close for Thanksgiving

 

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Departments, with the exception of public safety and emergency services, will close Thursday, November 23rd, 2017 and Friday, November 24th in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

APSU Men's BasketballFort Campbell, KY – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball used a huge second-half surge to post a 90-58 win against Bethel in the first-ever college basketball game hosted on the Fort Campbell military installation at Shaw Physical Fitness Center.

It was close—too close for comfort—in the first half.

Houston County Woman Charged 2nd Time with TennCare Drug Fraud

 

TennCareNashville, TN – A Houston County woman is charged for a second time with TennCare fraud involving prescription drugs.

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) with the assistance of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Chrystal H. Hastings, 44, of Erin, TN. Hastings is charged with four counts of TennCare fraud for presenting forged prescriptions for the painkiller Oxycodone, using TennCare healthcare insurance benefits to pay for the forgeries.

Tennessee Lady Vols take on Marquette in Cancun Challenge, Thursday

UT Lady VolsPuerto Aventuras, Mexico – No. 12/14 Tennessee (3-0) plays its first game away from Knoxville this season, as the Lady Vols take part in the Cancun Challenge in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico, Thursday through Saturday.

Competing in the Riviera Tournament, the Lady Vols open play vs. No. 20/20 Marquette (1-1) at 5:30pm CT on Thanksgiving night.

UT enters undefeated after winning three straight at home to open the season, rolling past East Tennessee State, 87-49, and James Madison, 89-60, at Thompson-Boling Arena on November 12th and 15th, respectively, before closing out a three-game season-opening home stand with a 68-56 victory over Wichita State on Monday night.

Clarksville-Montgomery County continues to have Third Cheapest Gas Prices in Tennessee

AAANashville, TN – The 45.5 million Americans who hit the road this Thanksgiving will find the most expensive gas prices for the holiday in three years. The average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Tennessee is $2.54 – 40 cents more than Thanksgiving Day 2016. That amounts to an increase of $6.00 to fill an average size gas tank.
