Clarksville Police continue Community Outreach

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department strives to find new, innovative ways to reach out to the community and meet citizens in a comfortable, non-threatening environment. They’ve sat down with citizens and had a cup of coffee and now are trying something different.

Clarksville Police Chief Al Ansley, borrowing an idea which seemed have merit and has been successful in Raleigh, NC – sitting down in a local barbershop and talking with the patrons coming in for a “cut”.

Mona Lisa’s Barbershop invited the Clarksville Police Department to come into their establishment and give it a try.

So, Chief Ansley along with other officers walked into Mona Lisa’s Barbershop on Saturday with donuts and coffee in hand, ready to meet and talk. They weren’t disappointed.

The conversation flowed freely covering a wide variety of topics and the casual environment facilitated a great exchange of idea and information.

There were many light hearted moments as the customers flowed in and out of the shop and joined in the conversation to get questions answered, provide feedback, and express their opinions to the officers.

Even while Chief Ansley and Officer Coz Minetos took an opportunity to get a “cut” in the barbershop, the chit-chat continued on. The first Chat and a “Cut” seemed to be favorably received, so don’t be surprised if you see officers in a barbershop near you.
