Nashville Predators Lose To Winnipeg Jets To End Winning Streak 6-4

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators saw their three game win streak come to a screeching halt at the hands of the fast and furious Winnipeg Jets, 6-4.

Nashville had their backs against the wall from the drop of the puck, but managed to keep pace, taking the lead 2-1 after the first period.

Winnipeg scored first as Adam Lowry scored at 8:05 of the first period. Calle Jarnkrok tied the game for the Predators at the 19:19 mark of the first.

Kevin Fiala brought the Bridgestone Arena crowd to a fever pitch though with a wrister, just 21 seconds after the Jarnkrok goal, and Nashville would go to the first intermission with the lead.

Winnipeg’s Patrik Laine tied the game 2-2 just seven minutes into the second period, scoring his 17th goal of the season.

Nashville’s sharpshooter, P.K. Subban, gave the Predators the lead back on a wicked slapshot at the eight minute mark of the second period and the Preds were up, 3-2.

But wait!  There’s more!

Nikolaj Ehlers tied the game for Winnipeg, 3-3, then game the Jets the lead at the 16:00 mark of the second period, and suddenly, Nashville was behind, 4-3.

When the teams returned for the third and final period, Nashville wasted little time lighting the lamp, as Yannick Weber buried one from the left face-off circle.

Nashville had multiple opportunities to take the lead in the final minutes of the game, but stellar goaltending from Connor Hellebuyck, locked the door on the Predators. Hellebuyck would have 30 saves on the night.

As the fans were preparing for overtime, Brandon Tanev scored for the Jets with just over one minute remaining to give Winnipeg the winning goal, and an empty netter from Blake Wheeler would produce the final score, 6-4.

Nashville hosts the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night at the Bridgestone Arena.  Puck drops at 7:00pm.
