Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan to host Bob Clement at Customs House Museum

Former congressman will speak, sign new book

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will host a special book-signing event featuring former U.S. Rep. Bob Clement from 2:00pm-4:00pm Sunday, January 14th, 2018 at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center.

Clement, a Tennessee Democrat, will give a presentation on the current political climate in the country and read a few passages from his memoir, “Presidents, Kings and Convicts: My Journey from the Tennessee Governor’s Residence to the Halls of Congress.” The event is free and open to the public.

“I look forward to welcoming my friend Bob Clement to Clarksville and the Customs House Museum, and I invite our community to come out and meet him,” Mayor McMillan said. “Bob has served our state so well over many years of public service, and I’m sure Clarksvillians will enjoy his new book about the life and times of such a distinguished Tennessean.”

Clement has been conducting signing events around the country, particularly in the State of Tennessee, and donating books to public libraries.

“I will never forget our mutual good friend former Tennessee Governor McWherter stating: ‘Kim McMillan is the smartest member of the state legislature.’ As I got to know her, I absolutely agreed with him,” Clement said. “I want to thank Kim and her team as well as the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center for generously hosting this event.”

The book-signing will include remarks from Mayor McMillan, Clements’ presentation and a question and answer session. After the program, Clement will sign copies of “Presidents, Kings and Convicts,” which will be available for purchase at Seasons, the museum store.

The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, 200 South Second Street in Clarksville, is Tennessee’s second largest general interest museum. It features fine art, history, and children’s exhibits.
