He kicked the week off by hitting 6-of-11 field goals against the Trojans and running consistent high-low with Terry Taylor to stave off a late Troy rally.

Against Western Kentucky, Ugba’s second-half three-pointer pushed Austin Peay’s advantage to a game-high seven points with 18:08 to go; he narrowly missed a double-double with 10 points and nine boards against the Hilltoppers.

Ugba has become one of first-year head coach Matt Figger‘s most consistent performers; he’s averaging 12.3 ppg and 7.3 rpg over his past six outings.

This is Ugba’s second Newcomer of the Week honor; he also won for the week of November 27th. A Governor has now won one of the trio of OVC weekly awards (Player, Newcomer and Freshman) in five of the last six weeks.

The Govs open Ohio Valley Conference play with a 7:00pm, Thursday contest against SIU Edwardsville.
