The Governors are coming off their first Ohio Valley Conference win, Saturday, against Eastern Illinois, where the Govs rode freshman guard Brianah Ferby’s explosive 19-point performance to a 69-59 win against Eastern Illinois.

Brianah Ferby scored six points in the first and third quarters to give the Governors a lift when the offense stalled at the beginning of each half. The Governors shot 36.1 percent from the floor, but outscored the Panthers 21-6 in a second-quarter surge that gave Austin Peay the cushion they needed to top Eastern Illinois.

Ferby’s career high led all scorers with 19 points, three rebounds and two assists in her second-straight start. Falon Baker added 12 points, with a season high nine rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Brianne Alexander posted 11 points and eight rebounds doing work under the basket for the Govs.

In her first game back from injury, Keisha Gregory had a season high nine rebounds, five points and three steals in her 33 minutes on the floor. The Govs converted 22 points off of 19 Panther turnovers, and won the battle on the glass with 18 second-chance points off of 16 offensive rebounds.

The Govs face off against a Skyhawks squad determined not to be overlooked, after dropping a nail biter at home to the preseason favorite, Belmont, on Saturday. UT Martin is led by the offensive presence of sophomore guard Kendall Spray, who is averaging 16.8 points per game.
