Clarksville Police arrest Joseph Powell for Stealing from Deceased Man’s Property

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On January 1st, 2018, Clarksville Police received a call from a man who said he found items for sale on Letgo.com which had been stolen from his deceased father’s property on Lealand Drive which had been vacant for several months.

A neighbor had called and informed the man a trailer was being loaded with tools and furniture from the vacant residence.

The victim checked online and found the stolen property at Letgo.com for sale by Joe Bezzy.

The Police’s investigation determined that Joe Bezzy was actually Joseph Earl Powell.

They set up surveillance operation and saw Powell taking a floor lamp and multiple kerosene lanterns from a shed on the Lealand Drive property to his Monarch Lane residence. Powell was taken into custody at his residence. He also had marijuana in his possession when he was taken in custody.

A search of Powell’s residence yielded additional stolen property.

On January 4th, 2018, Joseph Powell, 32, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with Burglary and Simple Possession; Bond: $60,000. Additional charges are pending.

Pictures of some of the recovered stolen property is attached. The lead investigator is Detective Sacco.
