Nashville Predators fall to Tampa Bay Lightning in Overtime 4-3

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators saw their five game winning streak come to an end tonight with a 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning at Bridgestone Arena.

Yanni Gourde gave the lightning the win at 1:45 of overtime, after Nashville turned the puck over to him with a wide open net.

Tampa Bay was playing their second game in a row after a victory over the Chicago Blackhawks last night, 2-0.

Juuse Saros started in goal for the Predators, giving Pekka Rinne the night off.

Tampa Bay hit first when Chris Kunitz scored at 6:24 of the first period after a Viktor Arvidsson turnover.  It was the seventh goal of the season for Kunitz.

Ryan Ellis quickly tied the game, 1-1, at 7:28 on a Predators power play.  Ellis’s shot came from the point, blasting past Lightning goaltender, Louis Domingue.

Tampa Bay, known for their speed, kept the pace of the game at a high level, even after playing last night, and didn’t appear to be showing the effects of the back-to-back schedule.

Viktor Arvidsson would give Nashville the lead, 2-1, at 9:11, receiving a pass from Pontus Aberg, as he netted his 14th goal of the season.

Vladislav Namestnikov brought the Lightning even at 2-2 at 10:48, taking a pass from Steven Stamkos to score his 16th goal of the season.

P.K. Subban would give the Predators the 3-2 lead with just under a minute left in the second period, taking a pass from Mattias Ekholm and scoring for the 11th time of the season.

Nashville has been winning a lot of one goal games of late and it looked as though this would be the case tonight.

Stamkos would prove otherwise for the Lightning.

With 2:12 left in the game, the Tampa Bay superstar lit the lamp on a one-timer from the left circle, taking a pass from Slater Koekkoek.  It was his 18th goal of the season.  Game tied 3-3.

Nashville had opportunity in the overtime period but Domingue stood tall in net for Tampa Bay and Gourde clinched the affair with the game winner.

Nashville plays one more game before the All-Star break on Thursday night, taking on the New Jersey Devils.  Game time is 6:00pm central time.
