Nashville Predators drop overtime thriller to Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2

 

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators had to fight from behind to force overtime with the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight to salvage a point, but fell to the Leafs in a shootout, 3-2.   

Maple Leafs goalie Frederik Andersen made 44 saves on the night and single handedly won the game for Toronto. Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne saw his eight game win streak come to an end with the loss.

Toronto opened the scoring on a James Van Riemsdyk goal at 16:04 of the first period when he scored on a “one timer” that deflected off of Predators defenseman Alexei Emelin. Connor Brown provided the assist for Van Riemsdyk.

Tennessee State Fire Marshal says Manufactured Housing Fires Among Deadliest in Tennessee

 

Tennessee State Fire MarshalNashville, TN – Manufactured houses are the scenes of relatively few fires every year in Tennessee, but those fires are among the deadliest, causing a disproportionate number of fire-related deaths and prompting the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office to remind consumers that fire safety should be a priority in all homes, especially during the high-risk winter months.

Manufactured homes – also known as mobile homes or trailers – are transportable structures that are fixed to a chassis and specifically designed to be towed to a residential site.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN No. 11/11 Tennessee (19-4, 7-3 SEC) is back on the road Thursday night, February 8th, traveling to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks (12-11, 3-7 SEC) at Bud Walton Arena. Tip-off is slated for 7:00pm CT (8:00pm ET).

This will mark the Lady Vols’ first visit to Arkansas since January 14th, 2016, when they dropped a 64-59 decision to the Razorbacks.

Points have been hard to come by for the visiting teams in this series of late, with UT scoring 60, 60 and 59 in its last three trips to Bud Walton and UA tallying 60, 57 and 46 in its last three treks to Thompson-Boling Arena.

Hopkinsville Community CollegeHopkinsville, KY – Hopkinsville Community College’s literary magazine, The Round Table, will be accepting submissions of original poetry, prose, or artwork through 4:30pm, Thursday, March 1st, for its 2018 edition.

The magazine’s editorial staff welcomes work from anyone in the HCC service area, which includes: Christian County, Caldwell County, Todd County, Trigg County, and Logan County in Kentucky; Fort Campbell; and Stewart County, Montgomery County and Robertson County in Tennessee as well as employees and students from Austin Peay State University (APSU).

AAA reports Tennessee Gas Prices rise 1-cent

 

AAANashville, TN – Gas prices increased throughout most of the country last week, albeit by a smaller margin than recent weeks. Tennessee gas prices increased by only 1-cent during the past week, but declined by fractions of a penny over the weekend.

Sunday’s average price of $2.41 is 14 cents more than a month ago, and 34 cents more than this time last year.
