Nashville Zoo to hold 3rd Annual Great Backyard Bird Count, February 11th

Nashville ZooNashville, TN – Nashville Zoo will be hosting a program on February 11th, 2018 from 11:00am – 1:00pm in the Unseen New World for those interested in learning more about the Great Backyard Bird Count.

The program will share the importance of the global bird census, outline how guests can participate and teach basic skills needed for successful bird counting. Participation in the program is included with Zoo admission or membership.

Visitors are invited to spend some time along the Zoo’s trails practicing bird counting, learning about the Zoo’s global bird conservation projects and checking out educational stations set up throughout the Unseen New World. 

The Great Backyard Bird Count is a citizen science project encouraging people from around the world to count birds for 15 minutes a day from February 16th-19th, 2018. 

The census can take place in any location, anywhere in the world! This data is submitted online to researchers who use it to assist in tracking bird migrations and population counts of different species.
