Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for February 14th – 17th, 2018

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

The upcoming events include: Entering the Underworld, Dunbar Cave Jeopardy and Duck, Duck, GOOSE.

Wednesday, February 14th

Entering the Underworld

Time: 2:00pm – 3:00pm

Long before Dunbar Cave was a state park, even before it was a resort, it held a more sacred purpose. Join Ranger Adam in the AV Room and learn about how Native Americans utilized the cave for thousands of years. Topics will include the Mississippian Era Cave Art. This is a free program but please register in advance.

Friday, February 16th

Dunbar Cave Jeopardy

Time: 4:30pm – 5:00pm

You think you know about Dunbar Cave? Meet us in the AV room to play a fun jeopardy style game to put your knowledge to the test. You may just learn something new!

Saturday, February 17th

Duck, Duck, GOOSE

Time: 9:30am – 10:30am

Our water levels may change but we still have wildlife in the lake! Learn about the types of waterfowl that temporarily call Dunbar Cave home. You will even have the opportunity to use a spotting scope to see everything up close.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.

Dunbar Cave State Park is located at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville Tennessee.

Port Royal State Historic Park is located at 3300 Old Clarksville Springfield Road, Adams, Tennessee.
