APSU Men's TennisClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team goes on the road again this weekend with a pair of matches starting 6:00pm, Friday, February 16th at Dayton and 3:30pm, Saturday, at IUPUI.

The Govs (1-5) picked up their first win of the season this past weekend, splitting a pair of matches.

The win over Southern Indiana was spearheaded by the comeback win at No. 1 doubles by Almantas Ozelis and Aleh Drobysh.

The point was especially important for the Govs since the contest treated each double match as one individual point.

Opponent Spotlight

Austin Peay has never played against Dayton (8-2) in a dual match. The Flyers are on a roll at the moment, winning their past five matches overall, which included two conference wins. In the win streak, the Flyers have outscored their opponents by a total of 24-2, only dropping one individual doubles match throughout.

IUPUI (2-4) has had a rough start to their season, but played respectable opponents in Kentucky, Michigan State, and Iowa. The Jaguars also played Dayton this year, losing 6-1, so APSU will have an idea about what to expect based on the Dayton match Friday.

However, IUPUI has beaten Ohio Valley Conference members Belmont and Eastern Illinois for both wins this season. The Govs have taken on the Jags just once overall, last season, where IUPUI narrowly won by a score of 4-3 in Clarksville.
