APSU Women’s Basketball hosts Jacksonville State Saturday afternoon

APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team wraps up a two game homestand 4:30pm, Saturday, February 17th against Jacksonville State.

The Govs are coming off a low scoring affair with Tennessee Tech that saw 12 lead changes and 13 ties.

Austin Peay (15-11, 8-7 OVC) set a school record in free-throw percentage shooting 100.0 percent from the line (18-for-18).

It was Keisha Gregory‘s two free throws with six seconds remaining in the game that sealed the Governors one-point victory over the Golden Eagles.

The Govs were down four points heading into the final period against Tennessee Tech, but veteran forward Brianne Alexander scored 10 points in the fourth quarter as Austin Peay outscored the Golden Eagles 19-14 down the stretch.

The Govs are currently averaging 64.3 points per game and shooting 40.3 percent from the floor. The Governors had a strong first quarter against Tennessee Tech shooting 53.8 percent from the floor, and racked up 30 points in the paint.

The Govs are facing a Gamecocks squad that is 10-5 in conference play and looking to split the season series after dropping the matchup with Jacksonville State on the road 47-65, January 13th.

Double Digits
Two Govs scored in double digits against Tennessee Tech: Alexander (14) and Gregory (13).   

Racking up Rebounds
The Governors outrebounded the Golden Eagles 34-27. Gregory led the way with nine rebounds, while Alexander and Falon Baker added seven and five boards respectively.  

OVC Standings
The Govs are sitting comfortably in sixth place in the Ohio Valley Conference Standings with three games remaining in the regular season.
