APSU Men’s Tennis loses to IUPUI

APSU Men's TennisIndianapolis, IN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team got off to a good start, but could not maintain it as they fell 5-2 to IUPUI, Saturday, at the West Indy Racquet Club.

The Govs (1-7) won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to claim the doubles point.

With the doubles matches split, Almantas Ozelis and Aleh Drobysh once again turned in a clutch performance, winning in a tiebreaker to give the Govs a 1-0 lead going into the singles matches.

The Jaguars (4-4) turned it on in the singles portion of the match, winning five of six singles points. There were three matches that went to three sets, with IUPUI winning two of them. Christian Edison won at No. 2 singles, 7-6(5), 5-7, 10-8, but IUPUI had already won the match due to collecting four singles points before Edison’s match finished.

Austin Peay returns to action next Sunday at Kennesaw State, the last match of their seven-game road trip.
