The senior from Silver Spring, Maryland averaged 17.0 ppg and 9.5 rpg against Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State last week, hitting 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from the floor.

He posted 19 points against the Golden Eagles and followed that up with his season’s eighth double-double, a 15-point, 11-rebound effort against the Gamecocks.

Ugba has upped his already-high level of performance down the stretch, averaging 18.8 ppg over his recent eight game double-figure scoring streak.

This is the eighth Newcomer of the Week honor secured by Ugba, to go with three OVC Player of the Week awards. Overall, Austin Peay now has 16 weekly awards from the conference this season, 11 by Ugba alone. His eight Newcomer honors represent the most in OVC history since the league established the award prior to the 1985-86 season, surpassing Jonathan Stark (Murray State, 2016-17), Jarekious Bradley (Southeast Missouri, 2013-14) and Trenton Marshall (Jacksonville State, 2009-10).
