Topic – “Equipping The Confederate Cavalryman”

Civil War horse soldiers carried some of the same equipment as their infantry counterparts but they also carried equipment not issued to the infantry. Using reproduction pieces of equippage, Myers Brown, an expert on Civil War cavalry and archivist with the Tennessee State Library & Archives will inform us of what the Confederate troopers carried with them into battle and camp.

Myers Brown is a native of Old Hickory, Tennessee. He received his B.A. in history from Oglethorpe University and his M.A. in public history from Middle Tennessee State University. He is a Fellow and a former Governor of the Company of Military Historians and is on the advisory boards for the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area, the Tennessee Civil War Preservation Association, and the Tennessee Great War Commission.

We hope to see you Wednesday, February 21st at the the Bone & Joint Center at 7:00pm for our monthly meeting.
