Austin Peay State University Softball plays in Central Arkansas Tournament this weekend

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – For the first time in the program’s 33-year history, Austin Peay State University’s softball team will play games in the state of Arkansas, as they travel to Conway, AR, to participate in the University of Central Arkansas Tournament.

Weather has already forced changes from the original schedule, with the Governors (1-3) now opening play, 11:30am, Saturday morning versus Kansas, followed by two games on Sunday, at 10:00am and 2:00pm, versus South Dakota State and Louisiana-Monroe respectively.

#15/14 Tennessee Lady Vols roll over Florida Gators, 70-42

UT Lady VolsGainesville, FL #15/14 Tennessee defeated Florida at Exactech Arena on Thursday night, 70-42, giving Holly Warlick her 150th career win as a head coach (150-52) in her sixth season at the helm. 

The Lady Vols (22-6, 10-6 SEC) were led in scoring by Jaime Nared and Evina Westbrook with 13 each. UT had three other players in double figures, including Meme Jackson (11), Rennia Davis (11) and Anastasia Hayes (10). In a return to her home state, Davis added 10 rebounds to log her seventh career double-double.

Florida was led in scoring by Paulina Hersler, who ended the day with 12 points and five rebounds.

Nashville Predators Dominate San Jose Sharks 7-1

 

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN –  Pekka Rinne scores his 300th career victory tonight, as the Nashville Predators absolutely dominate the San Jose Sharks at Bridgestone Arena, 7-1. 

The elite NHL goaltender was brought to tears during a post-game interview reflecting on his accomplishment in front of his hometown crowd tonight.  Pekka Rinne has been one of the most popular players in Predators history and he showed his love for his fans tonight. 

The Predators were relentless against the Sharks who had won five of their last six games before entering “Smashville” to face the defending Western Conference Champions.

Tennessee Consumer Affairs Warns Consumers About New Twist on Tax Refund Scam

 

Tennessee Consumer Affairs DivisionNashville, TN – With tax filing season underway, the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance’s (TDCI) Division of Consumer Affairs is sharing a warning from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that cautions consumers about a new scam tactic involving erroneous tax refund deposits.

According to the IRS, the scam began with cyber criminals employing malware to mine client data from tax professionals’ computers.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation reports High Water closes several Parks

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Because of heavy rain and rising waters on the Cumberland River and its tributaries, some City of Clarksville parks and facilities will be closed until further notice. Facilities at Liberty Park and McGregor Park have been hit hardest.

APSU Track and Field set for OVC Indoor Championships

APSU Women's Track and FieldCharleston, IL – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team faces its season’s biggest test, Friday-Saturday, at the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse on the Eastern Illinois campus.

The championships begin at 9:00am, Friday with the Indoor Pentathlon events.

Clarksville Police report Two Juveniles Charged in String of Vehicle Burglaries

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police have charged two juveniles, 16 and 17, in a string of vehicle burglaries occurring in the last week. The seven vehicle burglaries the juveniles were charged with occurred in the area of Canvasback Drive, Tana Way, and Sunbelt Drive.

The juveniles said they would go neighborhood to neighborhood on foot in the early morning hours checking for unlocked vehicles to enter.
