Covington, LA – Austin Peay State University beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of the New Orleans Invitational, Saturday.
The Governors opened the day with a dominant victory over Ohio Valley Conference member Jacksonville State, topping the Gamecocks 4-1 in the opening match of the day.
Ginny Gerig and Cecily Gable earned their second victory of the tournament, defeating Katie Will and Charis Ludtke in three sets.
Jenna Panning and Haley Turner also pulled out a three-set thriller against Hannah Kirk and Sadie Anderson.
Kaylee Taff and Cori Theiss battled back after dropping the opening set to Maddie Cloutier and Grace Jarnagin, winning in three, while Caroline Waite and Brooke Moore swept Sam Bogdan and Bethany Randall of Jacksonville State
The Govs struggled to find rhythm against Houston Baptist in the second match of the day, falling 5-0, but Austin Peay opens the season with a 2-2 record heading into the final three days of their first road trip.
