The Governors were first-round leaders after opening with a 284; although slipping to a 299 in the second round, the aggregate 583 puts them behind only Toledo (288-285—573) and ahead of Connecticut (584), Boston College (585) and Florida Atlantic (588).

“I’m really happy with the way we came out to compete today,” said head coach Robbie Wilson. “The first 18 holes were excellent; the last 18 we made a few mistakes, which unfortunately took us out of the lead. We have a hungry group that will be ready to go tomorrow morning.”

Continuing an outstanding performance from two weeks ago at the Invitational at Savannah Harbor, sophomore Michael Busse‘s 142 (70-72) has him one shot off the lead behind Old Dominion’s Nick Rencis. Also sitting in the top 10 after 36 holes was sophomore Austin Lancaster, who fired a 144 (70-74) en route to a share of seventh.

Freshman Chase Korte enjoyed a solid day that saw him maintain his pace as the winds picked up in the second round. He shot 73-75—148, while sophomore Alex Vegh‘s opening-round 71 offset a difficult second 18 that saw him end at 78, for a 149 total. Another freshman, Jay Fox, rounded out the afternoon for the Govs with a 161 (78-83).

Final-round action commences in Fort Lauderdale with an 7:30am (CT) shotgun start.
