Student-athletes from 26 colleges and universities will participate in this event; the Govs will be one of eight Division I universities to send student-athletes to the event, joining host Coastal Carolina, Davidson, Georgia Southern, Radford, SIU Edwardsville, USC Upstate and VCU.

Outdoor season will unveil two of the trio of newly-minted medalists from the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships in junior Savannah Amato and sophomore Tymeitha Tolbert; Amato snared her fourth career gold medal in the pole vault, while Tolbert’s bronze in the 60m dash came on a school-record 7.55 jaunt two weeks ago in Charleston, Illinois.

In her first OVC Championship appearance, freshman Lennex Walker snared a bronze as well—the first for the Govs in that event since Amanda McCoy in 2010–but she will sit this meet out for the Govs.

Two important debuts are set to go in the long jump on Friday. Sophomore Maya Perry-Grimes, who was OVC Indoor Freshman of the Year last season before injuries robbed her of much of the intervening time, is slated to compete, along with senior Ashleigh Woods as she begins her final outdoor campaign. The duo also are on the start list for the triple jump as well.

Based on seeding, junior Emmaculate Kiplagat is one of the favorites in the 5000m run; the Kenyan’s 17:55.58 mark, which she accrued at last year’s Governors Invitational, is second among the field of 33.

Live scoring for this event will be provided by snaptiming.com; a complete recap of each day will be available via LetsGoPeay.com as well.
