Nashville Predators defeat Arizona Coyotes 3-2 Rinne nets 10th straight win

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators began a four game road trip with a come from behind win over the Arizona Coyotes, 3-2.  The win marks the 10th win in a row for Predators goalie, Pekka Rinne.

The Predators have had trouble with Arizona, with an 0-2-2 record against the team in the desert, but pulled out the win, twice coming from behind.

Christian Dvorak got things started for Arizona at 4:09 of the second period with a wrist shot that beat Rinne, whose vision was blocked on the play. The Coyotes took the early lead, 1-0.

It wouldn’t take Nashville long to draw even though, as Ryan Ellis would score at 5:49 of the second on a wrist shot of his own that beat Arizona goalie, Darcy Kuemper, for the 1-1 tie.

Oliver Ekman Larsson would give Arizona the lead once again at 16:28 of the second perio scoring past Rinne for the 2-1 lead.  Larsson was assisted by Clayton Keller and Derek Stepan.

When the third period began, if you blinked you missed it, but 22 seconds into the final frame, Kyle Turris scored on a face off to beat Kuemper and the game was tied for the second time, 2-2.  Turris was assisted on the goal from Kevin Fiala and Craig Smith.  The line of Turris, Fiala and Smith were the offensive powers in tonight’s game.

Kevin Fiala would seal the deal for the Predators at 4:31 of the third period when his wrister found the back of the net for the 3-2 final score.  Fiala was unassisted on the score.

The story of the night continues to be Pekka Rinne who is having the best year of his stellar career, winning his tenth straight start.  Rinne HAS to be in the discussion for the Vezina trophy as the top goalie in the NHL.

Nashville will board a plane for Colorado where they play the Avalanche tomorrow night.  The puck drops at 8:00pm central.

The Predators return home to Bridgestone Arena next Thursday night to face the Toronto Maple Leafs.
