APSU Beach Volleyball hits the road for Carson-Newman Tournament this weekend

APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University beach volleyball returns to the court for their second-straight weekend of action.

The Govs are looking to put an end to their losing streak at the Carson-Newman Tournament where Austin Peay will face off against Lincoln Memorial, Huntingdon and the Eagles in Jefferson City.

The Governors are coming off a tough weekend at the Blazer Beach Duals, but the Govs ended on a high note after they took two pairings from the Mercer Bears, as Jenna Panning and Haley Turner won a three-set thriller 21-23, 26-24, 15-9. Kaylee Taff and Chloe Stitt dominated the fifth pairing, winning in straight sets 21-15, 21-16.

The pairings for the Govs opening match against Lincoln Memorial, Friday, will remain unchanged from Austin Peay’s 2-3 loss to Mercer last Saturday.

Gerig and Gable
Ginny Gerig
and Cecily Gable have played every match together at the number one pairing, looking to pick up some wins for the Govs entering their third weekend of competition.

Turner and Panning
This freshman-sophomore duo will take to the court together as the number two pairing after winning a three-set match last weekend against the Mercer Bears. 

Waite and Moore
This freshman pairing is looking to build off their first appearance together against Mercer last weekend, and grab a point for Austin Peay in the number three pairing.

Slay and Theiss
After struggling to find rhythm last weekend, this talented duo look to combine freshman tenacity and veteran experience in the number four pairing.

Taff and Stitt
Coming off a dominant win against Mercer in the number five pairing, Taff and Stitt look to continue their run at the Carson-Newman Tournament.

Korfhage and Darland
Nina Korfhage and Claire Darland look to build on their matches together early this season against the Govs’ trio of opponents in Jefferson City this weekend.
