The Govs (1-13, 0-2 OVC) have not had the start they wanted to this season, but a pair of wins against quality OVC foes could jump start the season.

The No. 1 doubles pair of Almantas Ozelis and Aleh Drobysh are on a two-match win streak and 6-6 overall this season.

Timo Kiesslich also won his last match against Belmont at No. 4 singles, the Govs’ lone point of that match.

Opponent Spotlight

Tennessee Tech (3-10, 1-0 OVC) has also not had an ideal start to its season but has played some respectable opponents, including Drake and Tennessee. The Golden Eagles did open up conference play last week by whitewashing Eastern Illinois 7-0 for their first win in five matches. The Golden Eagles have been a thorn in the side for the Govs, as APSU has not defeated them since the 2010-11 season.

Jacksonville State (11-2, 1-0 OVC) is on the other side of the spectrum, coming into the match as winners of their past seven of eight matches. The Gamecocks defeated Eastern Illinois in their opening OVC match last weekend by a score of 7-0.

While JSU defeated the Govs last season, APSU has won four of the past six meetings between the schools. In addition, Ozelis has never lost to a Gamecock opponent, with two wins at singles and a win at doubles in his career.
