Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee donates over 70,000 packages of Girl Scout Cookies to Fort Campbell, local organizations

Girl Scouts of Middle TennesseeNashville, TN – Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee (GSMIDTN) donated 50,592 packages of Girl Scout Cookies to Fort Campbell soldiers through its Troop Gift of Caring and HUGS program on Friday, March 23rd, 2018.

Through Troop Gift of Caring and HUGS, Girl Scouts are able to show their appreciation for men and women in uniform or support those in need by giving Girl Scout Cookies. Girls choose an organization they want to benefit and give customers the opportunity to purchase cookies as a donation.

For the past eight years, GSMIDTN has been partnering with Hugs for Our Soldiers to donate cookies to the soldiers at Fort Campbell.

“I am blown away by this year’s donation,” said Kathy Orcutt, founder of Hugs for Our Soldiers. “It is remarkable how the public came together to show their support for our soldiers. I love seeing the smiles on these soldiers faces and knowing that so many people had a part in helping them feel appreciated.”

The delivery of these cookies would not have been possible without the generosity of M&W Logistics Group. M&W volunteers drivers, trailers and tractors to deliver Girl Scout Cookies to Fort Campbell each year.

“Our Gift of Caring program is one of my favorite components of the Girl Scout Cookie program,” said Tracy Tudder, product programs manager, Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee. “Through this program, Girl Scouts get to see first hand the impact of giving back to their community. We want to thank everyone who showed their support for our Girl Scouts, our soldiers and for organizations across Middle Tennessee by donating cookies.”

In addition to the packages donated to Fort Campbell through the HUGS program, 19,996 packages of cookies will be going to various organizations across Middle Tennessee, making for a total of 70,588 packages of donated cookies through Troop Gift of Caring and HUGS.
