Each participant will have three chances to hit a pitched ball, or to hit off a tee, and then run the bases.

The event is free to the public and more than 100 Clarksville area ballplayers are expected to participate.

“I’m happy to join with Major League Baseball and the U.S. Conference of Mayors for our annual Play Ball initiative,” Mayor McMillan said on Thursday, March 29th, opening day of the MLB’s 2018 season. “Play Ball helps connect families who are already involved in the game, while also providing a pathway into baseball for those looking to get involved in our National Pastime.”

With the help of mayors across the country, “Play Ball” events will energize communities and generate support for baseball and softball. Information is available at www.PLAYBALL.org, which provides parents, coaches and young players with information on how to get involved with Play Ball activities.
