Yellow Creek Baptist Church’s Community Easter Egg Hunt the biggest and best yet

Yellow Creek Baptist ChurchCumberland City, TN – It had been raining on and off all week, but on Saturday, March 31st, 2018, the clouds parted, the sun came out and dried up the ground and it turned into just a perfect day for the for the Yellow Creek Baptist Church annual Community Easter Egg Hunt.

It was also Yellow Creek’s biggest crowd ever with 343 registered children.

Today went simply fantastic. Today is the 31st day of March, and I truly believe we have the prettiest day in March. The lord just gave us a beautiful day,” stated Brother Phillip Chambers, Senior Pastor. “It was also our biggest crowd ever.”

Yellow Creek Baptist Church held their annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31st.

The egg hunt was divided into three parts, Pre-K, K-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade. 20,000 eggs were scattered between the three fields. New this year was a crawler section. A couple of moms had requested the Pre-K be divided up for a crawler section because some of the 4 and 5 year olds were running over the younger ones.

“It blessed my heart to see that crawler section. The little kids taking their time and parents taking their pictures. It was great, really great,” said Chambers.

150 people worked an hour each to stuff all the eggs. It took around 250-300 man hours to put this on then in 5 minutes it’s gone.

“We appreciate all the volunteers at Yellow Creek that put this on. It’s unbelievable how many man hours it takes to stuff 20,000 eggs, hide the eggs, and the setup,” stated Chambers.

The prizes consisted of three Easter Baskets per age group, two small and one large, two scooters per age group and one bicycle per age group. All of the prizes are age appropriate.

“All the kids were really tickled to win the prizes,” Chambers commented. “I am always glad to see the kids win the prizes.”

Everyone had a good time, especially the kids whether they won a prize or not. This is a great community event.

“Yellow Creek puts this event to give the community a safe place to hunt. Where they can come and not worry about their kids getting run over and not worried about bad candy or anything like that,” Chambers stated.

“We thank everyone for coming out today. If no one came, then this would all be in vane. It’s our honor to do this, said Chambers. “We are trying to reach unchurched people but we are thrilled to have people from other churches here as well.”

“As long as people keep coming, we’re gonna keep having it. We just appreciate the community’s support so much and we really appreciate everybody coming out,” stated Chambers.
