Nashville Sounds bats go cold in 5-1 loss to New Orleans Baby Cakes

 

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – The Nashville Sounds fell to 1-1 as the offense went cold in a 5-1 loss to the New Orleans Baby Cakes Friday night at Shrine on Airline.

One night after putting up 11 runs on 16 hits, the Sounds managed just one run on seven hits and went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Nashville was in a deficit from the beginning as starter Frankie Montas failed to make it out of the first inning. The right-hander recorded just two outs as the Baby Cakes sent 10 to the plate in the opening inning. Montas was charged with all four runs that scored as the Sounds trailed 4-0 after one.

APSU Baseball blasts Five Home Runs in win over Belmont

APSU BaseballNashville, TN – Designated hitter Brett Newberg hit three home runs and Austin Peay State University’s baseball team launched five homers in a 10-5 Ohio Valley Conference series-opening win against Belmont, Friday, at E.S. Rose Park.

Newberg’s three home runs came in his first three at-bats and each proved pivotal. His first to right center in the second gave the Govs their first run of the contest.

APSU Men's TennisClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team hopes to notch its first win in Ohio Valley Conference play, hosting Eastern Illinois, 10:00am, Saturday.

The Govs (1-15, 0-4 OVC) are looking to climb the OVC standings and qualify for the OVC Tournament with just two matches remaining in the regular season.

Nashville Sounds’ first homestand begins Tuesday at First Tennessee Park

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club returns to First Tennessee Park for Opening Day and the first homestand of the 2018 season on Tuesday, April 10th.

The fourth season at First Tennessee Park begins with the Sounds welcoming the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, the Iowa Cubs, for a three-game series from April 10th-12th, and the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, the Omaha Storm Chasers, for a four-game set from April 13th-16th.
