APSU Men's TennisClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team hopes to notch its first win in Ohio Valley Conference play, hosting Eastern Illinois, 10:00am, Saturday.

The Govs (1-15, 0-4 OVC) are looking to climb the OVC standings and qualify for the OVC Tournament with just two matches remaining in the regular season.

Austin Peay does have some players in good form at the moment, with Aleh Drobysh and Christian Edison each winning their last match in singles. Drobysh has teamed with Almantas Ozelis the entire season, going 7-6 overall and 2-0 in OVC play at No. 1 doubles. The pair have also won their last three matches that have finished.

Eastern Illinois (5-15, 1-4 OVC) are only a game ahead of the Govs in the OVC standings. The match is critical to each squad’s hopes of making the OVC Tournament. The Panthers lost their opening four OVC matches before defeating Tennessee State at home, 4-3.

Austin Peay has had a lot of success against the Panthers, never losing in a dual match in the Ross Brown era. Drobysh, Ozelis, and Chad Woodham are all unbeaten against the Panthers in doubles in their careers as well.

Austin Peay will also be hosting its senior day after the men’s match and before the women’s match, Saturday. Drobysh, the lone senior for the Govs, will be honored for his four years as a key contributor to APSU’s success.
