Nashville Sounds lose 2-1 at New Orleans Baby Cakes

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – The offense for the Nashville Sounds was silent for the second consecutive night and resulted in a 2-1 loss to the New Orleans Baby Cakes Saturday night.

In a game that was delayed by rain for over 2.5 hours, both teams combined for only eight hits, but it was the Baby Cakes who improved to 2-1 with the one-run win.

The game started in Nashville’s favor as the Sounds scored in the top of the first inning. Jorge Mateo started the game by coaxing a walk off Sandy Alcantara. The speedster promptly swiped second base and scored when Renato Nunez lined a base hit up the middle.

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will host UT Martin, 1:00pm, Sunday at Cheryl Holt Field, to wrap-up its Ohio Valley Conference home weekend.

The Govs enter the matchup versus the Skyhawks with a 22-11 overall record, including a 6-2 mark in OVC play, after splitting a doubleheader with Southeast Missouri on Friday, while Tennessee Martin has authored a 17-20 record, including a 2-4 record in OVC play after dropping a pair of games to SIU Edwardsville on March 30th.

LG Electronics to hold Informational Job Fair at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center on April 18th

 

LG ElectronicsClarksville, TN – LG Electronics will host its first informational event for LG’s brand new manufacturing facility on Wednesday, April 18th, 2018 at 7:30am to 8:30am and 5:30pm to 6:30pm. The event will take place at The Wilma Rudolph Event Center, 1190 Cumberland Drive in Clarksville.

The event will provide information for all employee positions including line assemblers, press operators, paint line operators, maintenance, injection mold operators, leads, and other professional opportunities.

APSU BaseballNashville, TN – Second baseman Garrett Giovannelli had a pair of run-scoring doubles and starting pitcher Jacques Pucheu went seven innings as Austin Peay State University’s baseball team downed Belmont, 5-2, Saturday in Ohio Valley Conference action at E.S. Rose Park.

Austin Peay (18-13, 9-5 OVC) got on the board first, striking for three runs in the third inning. Giovannelli supplied the first run with a double inside the third-base bag to drive in center field Imani Willis.

TBI reports Father of reported Missing Child Arrested, Charged with Homicide

 

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationNashville, TN – A joint investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of the father of Joe Clyde Daniels, the five-year-old who has been the subject of an Endangered Child Alert this week.

Joe Clyde Daniels was reported missing by his parents the morning of Wednesday, April 4th. At the request of the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office, the TBI issued an Endangered Child Alert, and law enforcement agencies, search and rescue organizations, and citizen volunteers began an exhaustive search in the area of his residence.

APSU Men's TennisClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team provided a clutch performance en route to earning its first Ohio Valley Conference win of the season, defeating Eastern Illinois, 5-2, Saturday, at the Governors Indoor Tennis Center.

The Govs (2-15, 1-4 OVC) started out hot with the No. 1 doubles team of Almantas Ozelis and Aleh Drobysh picking up a win.

Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Veterans Affairs hold ceremony to honor Vietnam War Veterans

Blanchfield Army Hospital - BACH - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – Nine Vietnam War veterans from the Fort Campbell community were greeted with a standing ovation during a commemoration ceremony recently to honor them and the service of 9 million Vietnam veterans.

The event was sponsored by Blanchfield Army Community Hospital and Veterans Affairs staff at the Fort Campbell Integrated Disability Evaluation System clinic and scheduled in conjunction with The National Vietnam War Veterans Day, March 29th, which recognizes all the men and women who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces from November 1st, 1955 to May 15th, 1975.
