Clarksville’s Multi-Color Corporation Awarded $20,000 for Incumbent Worker Training Grant

American Job CenterClarksville, TN – The Clarksville, Tennessee Multi-Color Corporation printing facility was awarded $20,000 for an Incumbent Worker Training grant (IWT). Multi-Color Corporation corporate offices are located in Batavia, Ohio and operates 87 printing facilities worldwide.

The Clarksville, TN Multi-Color plant is a wide-web rotogravure printer, producing die cut, pressure sensitive labels and square cut, white paper and metalized paper labels for the beverage and food industry. In Clarksville since 1981, their primary customers are Anheuser-Busch Inbev and Bush Bros.

The Clarksville plant was fortunate to recently receive an Incumbent Worker Training grant from Workforce Essentials through the Consolidated Business Grant process sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

“The application process was relatively simple, and we are already benefiting from the flexibility to select customized training needs for our employees, such as leadership training for our supervisors and managers and the ever-present need for specific safety training modules for our production employees,” David Merrill, MCC Director of Operations explains. “We take training very seriously at the Clarksville plant and it is what continues to set us apart from our competitors. It is a win-win situation for everyone involved.”

The Department of Labor and Workforce Development offers eligible TN Employers competitive grant funding to provide skills upgrades for existing workers or train new hires as an incentive to grow their business.

The Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWT) is a competitive grant that provides funding to help eligible Tennessee businesses effectively train and retain employees by providing skills upgrades and process improvement training for existing, full-time employees, while the Apprenticeship Training Grant (ATG) supports Tennessee employers that are interested in starting an apprenticeship program or are already authorized providers of the Registered Apprenticeship Program through US/DOL – Office of Apprenticeships.
