Sponsored by the APSU College of Business and the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the workshop is offered through Google’s Get Your Business Online program, which brings community members, business owners, and civic leaders together to help small businesses succeed on the web.

According to Google, small businesses with websites grow 40 percent faster than those without a website, but many businesses lack an online presence.

“Four out of 5 consumers use search engines to find local information nearby, yet only 37 percent of businesses have claimed their listing on a search engine,” Emily Harris, manager of Google’s Get Your Business Online program, said. “Small businesses are the engine of local economies, and when they flourish, their communities do as well.”

Dave Delaney, a Google trainer and speaker, will conduct the workshop. Delaney is a popular keynote speaker, author and digital marketing consultant. He is the founder of Futureforth.com and NetworkingForNicePeople.com. Dave is best recognized for his work in the digital marketing, social media strategy, and business networking spaces. He has appeared in technology related stories in USA Today, Forbes, Entrepreneur, BBC, CBC, Mashable, VentureBeat, The Tennessean, Nashville Business Journal, and The Toronto Globe and Mail.

“The APSU College of Business is committed to supporting business growth and development here in Clarksville,” Dr. Mickey Hepner, dean of the APSU College of Business, said. “That is why we are so excited to partner with the Better Business Bureau to sponsor this free Google workshop for Clarksville-area businesses.”

“BBB is excited to partner with APSU’s College of Business to present these Google workshops to small businesses,” Melanie Thompson, regional vice president of BBB Middle Tennessee & Southern Kentucky, said. “Small businesses are a critical component to the strength of local economies and helping them grow is essential.”
