Austin Peay State University Men’s Tennis at Eastern Kentucky to close regular season

APSU Men's TennisClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team wraps up the regular season by going on the road to face Eastern Kentucky, 1:00pm, Friday.

With their win against Eastern Illinois in their last match, the Govs (2-15, 1-3 OVC) are assured of a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament next weekend.

The Govs are currently the fifth seed in the six-team tournament, but will rise to the fourth seed with a win against the Colonels (6-18, 2-3 OVC).

Eastern Kentucky has lost their past four of five matches, but did easily defeat Tennessee State, 7-0, in their most recent OVC match. History has favored the Govs recently, with the Govs winning five of the last six meetings between the two schools, including a narrow 4-3 win last year in Clarksville.

Austin Peay individuals have also had success against the Colonels. The doubles team of Almantas Ozelis and Aleh Drobysh, currently unbeaten in OVC play and on a four-match win streak, are 2-0 in matches against Eastern Kentucky opponents. Ozelis also defeated his likely opponent on Friday, Ramon van Flymen, last season at No. 1 singles.
