Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce honored an outstanding Clarksville-Montgomery County entrepreneur on April 10th with the inaugural GrowCo Excellence In Entrepreneurship Award.
The award is in place to recognize a Chamber member business that has excelled in entrepreneurship.
The award was presented to local business owners, the Knott and Armitstead families, during an exclusive business showcase and tour. The families were chosen due to their continued work to change the landscape and culture of our business community as well as their commitment to creating jobs and economic growth.
Their major undertakings, billed under the name Project 2231, has included Miss Lucille’s Marketplace, The Belle Hollow, Miss Lucille’s Café, Acme Athletics and most recently, The City Forum.
According to their website, the newest local entertainment attraction, The City Forum, is one of the largest family entertainment centers in the nation. It boasts 120,000 square feet, with high speed and family speed go karts, laser tag, a bowling lounge, mini golf, an arcade and a playscape. The family entertainment supercenter is located all under one roof at 2231 Madison Street.
Over 200 Chamber members were on hand at the celebration to witness Chamber Chairman, Charlie Koon present the families with an award and congratulate them for their positive impact on the community. Trent Knott took the opportunity to tell the packed house about the struggles and success that come with owning a business and starting a venture as large as the City Forum. Guests enjoyed a free lunch, provided by the Aspire Clarksville Foundation, and took a behind the scenes tour of the venue before it is open to the public.
“One of the key initiatives of the Chamber is to promote and recognize the contributions of local businesses to our community,” said Charlie Koon, Chairman of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce. “When working to create this award program the Chamber looked at several aspects of our local entrepreneur community and agreed that the Knott and Armistead families were an excellent choice to receive the inaugural GrowCo Award. We look forward to honoring more local business, both large and small, in the years to come.”
The GrowCo Awards will become a regular part of the Chamber’s award program that currently includes the Lifetime Achievement, Community Commitment, Boots to Suits and Young Professional of the Year Awards.
