Nashville SoundsNashville, TN The Nashville Sounds’ offense did not live up to the Friday Fireworks mantra and were shutout by the Omaha Storm Chasers 5-0 in front of a sellout crowd of 10,481 at First Tennessee Park. It was the second time in the 2018 campaign the Sounds have been shutout.

Sounds starter Eric Jokisch cruised through the first three innings, allowing just two hits before Omaha broke through in the fourth inning. Hunter Dozier collected a one-out double and came around to score when Frank Schwindel squeaked a triple just fair inside the first base bag that trickled down into the right field corner. Schwindel was brought home on a sacrifice groundout by Ryan O’Hearn.

APSU Beach Volleyball loses two matches Central Arkansas Invitational

APSU Women's VolleyballConway, AR – Austin Peay State University beach volleyball team drops two matches at Central Arkansas Invitational.

The matches originally scheduled for mid-afternoon were moved up due to incoming weather, and the Govs had a cold start against Central Arkansas in the morning, failing to take a set from the Bears.

Clarksville Police are looking for Isaiah Pollock for Criminal Homicide

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police are looking for Isaiah Pollock, age 19, of Clarksville who has an active Criminal Homicide warrant for the shooting death of Cameron Rosario Ortiz.

During the course of the investigation it was discovered Isaiah Pollock met with Cameron Rosario Ortiz to sell him marijuana. It was further determined Isaiah Pollock shot and killed Cameron Rosario Ortiz during the drug transaction.

Isaiah Pollock is wanted by Clarksville Police for the shooting death of Cameron Rosario Ortiz.

APSU Women’s Tennis loses at Eastern Kentucky, 6-1

APSU Women's TennisRichmond, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team could not overcome Eastern Kentucky in the regular season finale, falling 6-1, Friday, at the Tom Higgins Outdoor Courts.

The Govs (10-8, 6-3 OVC) knew they would be playing for seeding in next week’s Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, but the Colonels (13-8, 8-0 OVC) still were playing for an OVC regular season title, which will be decided tomorrow. The Colonels came out of the gate fast, winning easily at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to claim the doubles point.

Runners should register before April 13th for discounted rate

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – It’s time to lace up those running shoes and begin preparing for the 40th Queen City Road Race, a City of Clarksville tradition that promotes health and fitness for people of all ages.

Registrants can choose to participate in either the one-mile event at 8:30am or the 5K beginning at 8:45am on Saturday, May 5th, 2018.

APSU Men's TennisRichmond, KY – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team put up a valiant fight against Eastern Kentucky, but fell in the regular season finale, 4-3, at the Tom Higgins Outdoor Courts.

The Govs (2-16, 1-4 OVC) were looking to gain some momentum before the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament next week and came out of the gates hot.

Funding Bill for the Genesis Teen Learning Center Approved

Tennessee State Representative - District 67Nashville, TN – Art Therapy Licensing Bill – House Bill 2150 (Rep. Joe Pitts, D-Clarksville) and Senate Bill 2127 (Senator Ed Jackson, R-Jackson) would set up a licensing procedure through the Tennessee Department of Health.  “This legislation was brought to me by a group of art therapy professionals requesting the State to set up this procedure,” Pitts said. 

Art therapy will be another tool in the toolbox to assist Tennesseans with mental illness, people with cancer, people with Dementias & Alzheimer’s, as well as active duty military, veterans, and military families.

Roxy Regional Theatre to perform Shirley Lauro’s “A Piece of my Heart”, April 13th-April 28th

 

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – Although nearly 15,000 women served in Vietnam during the war, at that time there was little to no media coverage about these unsung heroes’ experiences and sacrifices, or their homecomings and readjustment difficulties.

This month, the Roxy Regional Theatre explores the often overlooked contributions of women in service with Shirley Lauro’s “A Piece of my Heart”, opening Friday, April 13th, at 8:00pm. In keeping with the theatre’s traditional pay-what-you-can opening night, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price will go on sale at 7:30pm that evening for a $5.00 minimum donation.
