Runners should register before April 13th for discounted rate
Clarksville, TN – It’s time to lace up those running shoes and begin preparing for the 40th Queen City Road Race, a City of Clarksville tradition that promotes health and fitness for people of all ages.
Registrants can choose to participate in either the one-mile event at 8:30am or the 5K beginning at 8:45am on Saturday, May 5th, 2018.
This year’s 5K route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, and the one-mile route takes participants on a tour of the Austin Peay State University campus. Both events begin at APSU’s Foy Center and conclude inside Fortera Stadium.
“Come out and join in this great partnership for health and fitness, involving the City, our school system, APSU and local businesses” Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan said. “I guarantee you’ll have a lot of fun, and your body and mind will thank you for it.”

In-person registration is from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Office, 102 Public Square, Downtown Clarksville. Register before April 13th to receive the “early bird” rates of only $20.00 for the 5K. After April 13th, registration will be available through race day, but the 5K fee will increase to $25.00. Cost for the one-mile event is only $5.00.
Each year, hundreds of Clarksville-Montgomery County School System elementary school students, teachers and family members participate in the race.
Incentives and awards are offered to CMCSS elementary schools as follows:
- $1,000 to school with the highest percentage of student registration.
- $1,000 to school with the highest percentage of faculty registration.
- $100 for the physical education department of the first school to have 10 people cross the 5K finish line.
- Subway party and trophy to any school with at least 10 percent of student enrollment registered for the 5K.
- Subway party and trophy to any school with at least 25 percent of faculty and staff registered for the 5K.
The 40th Annual Queen City Road Race is presented by the City of Clarksville and co-sponsored by Austin Peay State University, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Coordinated School Health, NorthCrest Medical Center, and The Leaf-Chronicle.
