The program, which takes effect May 1st, 2018 requires owners of property adjacent to public parking spaces to apply for a permit two working days before a construction blockage begins.

Property owners must pay a non-refundable application fee of $30.00 and $10.00 per day per space for up to four spaces. If more than four spaces must be blocked, the fee for additional spaces is $20.00 per day per space.

In addition to setting up a new rate structure and an application process, the Parking Commission policy outlines these regulations:

  • Overnight obstructions must be approved in advance.
  • Nearby property owners must be notified about the pending parking obstruction.
  • Applicants may be required to mitigate potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Permits may be denied if the proposed use of parking spaces is a safety hazard, a nuisance, or is not in the public interest.
  • Proof of insurance will be required.
  • Handicap spaces cannot be obstructed.
  • Permit holders are required to return the parking space to its original condition.

The guidelines and permit application may be obtained online at the Clarksville  Parking Commission’s page on the City’s website: www.cityofclarksville.com/index.aspx?page=310
