APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University softball pitcher Morgan Rackel has added two more weekly honors to join her adidas® OVC Pitcher of the Week accolade, by being named both the collegesportsmadness.com Player of the Week for the conference and the Tennessee Sports Writers College Pitcher of the Week.

2018 APSU Softball - Morgan Rackel

Rackel’s selection by collegesportsmadness.com is the first by a Governors softball player in the program’s history, while the TSWA selection is the first since outfielder Chandler Groves got the nod back in March of 2015.

The Calgary, Alberta, Canada native posted a 4-0 record last week, including pitching the school’s first no-hitter in 21 years versus Eastern Illinois, in a 1-0 OVC victory, on Sunday at Cheryl Holt Field at Joe and Cathi Maynard Softball Stadium.

Rackel also recorded a 6-1 complete-game victory versus SIU Edwardsville on Saturday and two wins in relief in a non-conference doubleheader versus Alabama A&M last Wednesday, striking out eight of the 10 batters she faced.

Overall, Rackel had a 0.40 ERA in 17.1 innings pitched during her four appearances, allowing only five hits and one run in holding opponents to a .086 batting average and a WHIP of 0.35.

She also struck out 28 hitters while walking only one over that span.
