Austin Peay State University Baseball’s game against Eastern Illinois suspended, resumes Saturday

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN –  A third weather-related stoppage was the charm as Austin Peay State University’s baseball team saw Game 2 of its Ohio Valley Conference series against Eastern Illinois, Friday, suspended in the eighth inning after a third stoppage for lightning near Raymond C. Hand Park.

Friday’s game will resume from the point of stoppage at 1:00pm, Saturday. Following the completion of Game 2, a seven-inning series finale will begin.

In addition, the Governors will recognize their eight seniors at 12:40pm on the field.

For a second straight day, Austin Peay and Eastern Illinois saw the start of its game delayed due to lightning in the area. The team’s got underway after a 48 minute delay and played into the fourth inning before a second lightning delay was necessary.

The second delay lasted over two hours and the game resumed after 8:00 p.m. and went another four innings before a third and final stoppage for lightning brought the game to a third halt. This time, the stoppage would force the game to be suspended in the eighth inning with Eastern Illinois leading 14-2.
