Hopkinsville Community College adding Evening College options this fall

Hopkinsville Community College

Hopkinsville Community CollegeHopkinsville, KY -Beginning in August of the Fall 2018 semester, Hopkinsville Community College (HCC) will be offering several in-person and hybrid courses that will form the college’s first official Evening College.

According to Interim Chief Academic Officer Jim Hunter, the plan is to increase Evening College hybrid course offerings each semester to give working students another option to complete credentials at HCC.

The college already offers a large selection of traditional, on-ground daytime courses plus a large number of online classes. Hybrid courses can serve as another path to completion of an HCC credential particularly for adult students who desire a more traditional classroom approach, but are unable to enroll in daytime offerings.

“We know that course flexibility is so important with the busy schedules that our students have. Online courses have been great for those who have full work and family responsibilities,” stated Jim Hunter. “However, we are hearing from many students that they want face-to-face time in the classroom with their instructor and fellow students. Online classes are a great option, but they are not for everyone. The hybrid model offers the best of both face-to-face and online formats with abbreviated classroom time each week supplemented with online coursework that students can complete on a more flexible timeline,” Hunter continued.

August’s Evening College will consist of the following courses:

HIS108 – History of the United States Through 1865 (Hybrid)

Tuesdays 7:00pm–8:15pm with the remainder of the course online.

BIO137 – Human Anatomy & Physiology

Mondays & Thursdays 6:00pm–8:20pm

BIO225 – Medical Microbiology

Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00pm-9:00pm

PHB120 – Fundamentals of Clinical Laboratory Phlebotomy

Tuesdays 6:00pm–9:00pm
