Austin Peay State University names Sheraine Gilliam-Holmes as executive director of Human Resources

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Sheraine Gilliam-Holmes, university director of human resources systems and operations at the City University of New York (CUNY), was recently named executive director and chief human resources officer at Austin Peay State University.

She will begin her new role at APSU on August 6th, 2018.

“Sheraine has the innovative skills and higher education experience to lead Austin Peay’s human resources office and to help that office translate strategic goals into a reality,” Mitch Robinson, APSU vice president for finance and administration, said. “Her outgoing personality and leadership abilities will help drive organizational and culture change in areas such as human resources technology, marketing, employee engagement, talent management and professional development. I know she will move quickly to address the strategic plan initiatives for human resources.”

Gilliam-Holmes comes to Austin Peay with more than 15 years of experience as a human resources executive. While at CUNY, she developed the CUNY HR brand to create a unified culture across the university, introduced the CUNY HR @ Your Service campaign designed to focus on service improvement and used site analytics and a site redesign to increase the CUNY HR website’s page views by 233 percent.

Prior to her time at CUNY, she served as an employee communications specialist at Time Warner Cable. In that role, she developed communication strategies and campaigns that engaged the company’s more than 48,000 employees.

Gilliam-Holmes also served as assistant business manager of human resources and operations for Radio One (now Urban One), the nation’s largest African-American-owned broadcasting company.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in International Business from Hofstra University and her MBA from the University of Phoenix. Gilliam received the 2016 Art Brown Award for Leadership in HR Technology, the 2016 CUPA-HR Eastern Regional Emerging Leader Award and the 2015 Vice Chancellor STAR Award for Productivity.
