Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County, Animal Control to host Kitten Shower, Sunday

Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County

Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery CountyClarksville, TN – The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County reports that as of Thursday, June 21st, 2018 Montgomery County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) counted 52 young kittens and 16 adult felines at its shelter currently ready and available for adoption.

There are dozens more waiting in quarantine and space is always an issue when more animals continue to be surrendered or brought in as strays.

Kitten Shower & Gift Registry set for Sunday, June 24th.

“Kitten season” has been particularly overwhelming for the county-funded facility, so the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County has partnered with the shelter to host a Kitten Shower & Gift Registry in an effort to save lives, collect much needed supplies, and bring awareness to the community.

The event will be held this Sunday, June 24th from 1:00pm-4:00pm at Montgomery County Animal Care and Control, 616 North Spring Street behind Sonic on Riverside Drive. The Kitten Shower will have the look and feel of a baby shower complete with refreshments and kitten cuteness overload.

Sunday’s event will offer reduced adoption fees for mama cats since they are often the ones to get left behind. The shelter is waiving adoption fees and spays have been donated by the Humane Society reducing the total adoption cost to just $22.00 (covers rabies vaccine)! Anyone who adopts a mama cat on Sunday will also be entered in a drawing to win a $50.00 Petsmart Gift Card.

Kitten adoption fees are $97.00 and includes spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, deworming, and an adoption gift bag.

If your family isn’t looking for a lifetime commitment, the community is still encouraged to stop by for information on becoming a foster family or to donate gift registry items in playpens that will be set up in the front lobby.

Additionally, staff members from the Cats on Commerce veterinary clinic will offer a free class on bottle feeding and upper respiratory infections starting at 1:00pm. RSVP for the class is appreciated to ensure enough seating.
