Tennessee Department of Transportation announces Partial Interstate Closure for I-65/I-40 JCT in Downtown Nashville

Tennessee Department of Transportation

Tennessee Department of Transportation - TDOTNashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close a small section of Interstate 65 North and one lane of Interstate 40 East along the south loop of downtown Nashville for bridge repairs.

The closure is scheduled for Friday, July 13th, 2018 at 8:00pm through Monday, July 16th at 6:00am.

The I-65 North ramp to I-40 West will be Closed. All I-65 northbound traffic will be diverted. The I-40 East ramp over I-65 North (at the same location) will be reduced to One Lane.

During the ramp and lane closure, crews will remove and replace portions of the I-40 East overpass that were damaged by a large water truck in late April. The closures are necessary to allow workers, equipment, and materials to access the bridge site. Work will continue around the clock in order to have the bridge ready for traffic by Monday morning rush hour.

Message boards will alert motorists to the closures and alternate routes. Closure maps are also available online.

This is the second of two weekend closures scheduled for this location. All closures are dependent on weather and project progress and are subject to change.

The repair work at the I-65/I-40 junction, estimated at $750,000, has been combined with a $5.8 million resurfacing and bridge repair project for I-40, from Church Street to Arlington Avenue. Additional weekend interstate closures are scheduled for that work.
