Nashville Sounds defeat Omaha Storm Chasers in extra innings, 5-4

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Melvin Mercedes provided the offensive heroics for the Nashville Sounds while Ben Bracewell was superb on the mound as they came from behind to defeat the Omaha Storm Chasers 5-4 in 11 innings.

Trailing 4-3 in the 11th inning, Sheldon Neuse squeaked a single past an outstretched Ryan O’Hearn at first base to knot the game at four runs apiece. After a sacrifice bunt from the birthday boy, BJ Boyd moved Neuse to second base, Mercedes came through in a major way. He found the hole on the left side of the infield to drive in Neuse from second and clinch the series-opening win.

TBI captures Top 10 Fugitive William Hawk in Nashville

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationNashville, TN – A fugitive who was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top 10 Most Wanted list over the weekend is now in custody after being captured in Davidson County.

William Barnard Hawk (DOB 05/12/1968) was taken into custody at the Walmart parking lot on Powell Avenue in Nashville Monday afternoon. Several law enforcement agencies provided assistance during the apprehension, including TBI, Metro Nashville Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service Middle Tennessee Joint Fugitive Task Force.

The individual on the motorcycle has passed away from their injuries. However at this time CPD can not release their name until they can confirm that their next of kin has been notified.

AAA reports Tennessee Gas Prices Higher after Refinery Issues

AAATampa, FL Gas prices are trending lower after an small jump at the pump last week. Gas prices in Tennessee are 2 cents higher than a week ago. The state average of $2.63 is 10 cents less than this year’s high, yet remains 61 cents more than this time last year. 

Pump prices rose last week after reports surfaced of seven gulf coast refineries dealing with various operational issues.

Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan –  The U.S. Army combat patching ceremony is a 100-year tradition, which began in 1918. The combat patch, or Shoulder Sleeve Insignia-Former Wartime Service, represents a soldier’s participation in an overseas deployment to a hostile environment.

“The combat patch that you don today represents the brother and sisterhood, the lifelong commitment, the service, and the sacrifices of all Screaming Eagles past and present,” said Col. Stanley Sliwinski, commander of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Sustainment Brigade, as he presided over the ceremony.

The brigade command team, consisting of Col. Stanley Sliwinski, commander of the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Resolute Support Sustainment Brigade and Command Sgt. Maj. Anthony B. McAdoo, senior enlisted leader for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Resolute Support Sustainment Brigade, along with the rest of their formation and the soldiers of the 495th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion of the Montana National Guard, participate in the time-honored tradition of their brigade patching ceremony, July 11, 2018, in Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.
