Nashville Sounds come up short in loss to Salt Lake Bees, 8-6

Nashville SoundsSalt Lake City, UT – Ramon Laureano and Franklin Barreto each homered, but the Nashville Sounds never enjoyed a lead and saw a ninth-inning rally fall short in an 8-6 loss to the Salt Lake Bees at Smith’s Ballpark on Friday night. The Sounds have dropped three consecutive games and are 5-13 on the year against Pacific Conference teams.

The Sounds trailed 8-2 after five innings but fought back. In the sixth, Bruce Maxwell drew a bases-loaded walk, and Jorge Mateo delivered a sacrifice fly to cut it to 8-4. Then in the ninth BJ Boyd’s RBI grounder and Barreto’s run-scoring single pulled the Sounds within 8-6.

Survey results point to progress made and maintained in a number of areas, alongside several areas where our state’s educators continue to see a need for improvement.

Nashville Ballet to hold Youth Cast Auditions for Nashville’s Nutcracker

No dance experience required to be a part of Nashville’s Nutcracker

Nashville BalletNashville, TN -Nashville Ballet invites community youth ages 8+ to open auditions for the 2018-2019 season production of Nashville’s Nutcracker. Auditions will be held on Sundays, August 19th, August 26th and September 9th, 2018 at Nashville Ballet’s Sylvan Park facility, 3630 Redmon Street, Nashville.

An annual Christmastime production, Nashville’s Nutcracker features approximately 300 youth cast members from the School of Nashville Ballet and the surrounding community.

Clarksville Police reports houseboat catches fire near Clarksville Marina

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – It was a perfect day for a couple, married almost 60 years, to take their houseboat named “Dream Catcher” on the river for a spin.

Shortly after Robert and Yvonne Workman pulled their house boat away from the Clarksville Marina dock on Friday, July, 27th, 2018 about 200 yards into the channel, the right motor shut down. As they tried to restart the motor, something blew up and fire appeared.  The fire occurred around 12:30pm.

Clarksville Fire and Rescue put out the fire on the houseboat named “Dream Catcher”.

110th annual Lone Oak takes place this Saturday

The Civitan ClubCunningham, TN –  This Saturday, July 28th, 2018 the 110th Lone Oak Picnic will take place in Cunningham, TN from 10:00am to 2:00pm. The event will be held rain or shine.

All proceeds from the Lone Oak Picnic benefit schools, fire departments, persons in need, etc. in southern Montgomery County. The Lone Oak Picnic is hosted by the Central Civitan Club.

Come out and enjoy entertainment, meet public officials, and purchase excellent chicken and pork barbecue. The picnic grounds are located between Hwy 13 and Alonzo Place in Cunningham, TN.

American Red Cross Blood Shortage continues

Emergency need remains; critical call for type O blood donors to donate now.

American Red CrossNashville, TN – Thousands of people have responded to the emergency call for blood and platelet donations issued by the American Red Cross in early July. Still, there continues to be an emergency need for donors of all blood types, especially type O, to give now to address a severe blood shortage.

Red Cross blood donations are being distributed to hospitals faster than they are coming in, and right now there is less than a five-day blood supply on hand.

Jackson, who will serve as the running backs coach for the Governors, comes to APSU after spending one season coaching receivers at Tusculum.

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports that in Montgomery County on SR 149 and SR 13 there will be Grading, Drainage, and Construction of Bridge work, as well as Retaining Wall work and Paving from River Road to Zinc Plant Road on Friday, July 26th, 2018 through through Wednesday, August 1st, from 9:00am-3:00pm.

There will be periodic flagging operations along SR 13 and SR 149 for clearing and grade work operations.
