APSU Women's VolleyballMurfreesboro, TN – Sophomore Brooke Moore posted a match-high 13 kills, leading Austin Peay State University (APSU)’s volleyball team to a three-set sweep (25-22, 25-15, 25-18) of host Middle Tennessee in the opening match of the Blue Raider Bash, Friday night, at Alumni Memorial Gym.

Austin Peay (4-0) rallied from early deficits in all three sets of the match.

Nashville Sounds beat Memphis Redbirds 5-1 at First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Jorge Mateo collected three hits and scored three runs to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 5-1 win over the Memphis Redbirds in front of a sellout crowd of 11,282 Friday night at First Tennessee Park.

The speedy shortstop delivered one of the highlights of the night when he tripled into the right-center gap in the second inning. Mateo’s triple was his 16th of the season – a single-season franchise record.

Nashville built an early lead thanks to Anthony Garcia’s 24th home run of the season.

Clarksville Police Department names Deputy Chief, four District Commanders

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan and Clarksville Police Chief Al Ansley promoted four officers to key leadership positions Thursday, August 30th, 2018 during a standing-room-only ceremony at Freedom Point.

“This is a great day for our City and the Clarksville Police Department,” Mayor Kim McMillan said. “Each of these officers has been with the department for at least a decade, and it’s a testament to our talent and training that these fine officers are moving up into senior leadership positions.”

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new campus BCycle station took place on Thursday, August 30th, 2018 outside the APSU Foy Fitness and Recreation Center.

Reserve, Cadets participate in Tactical Combat Physical Training at Fort Campbell

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Cadets from the Reserve Officer Training Corps and United States Military Academy joined Brig. Gen. K. Todd Royar, acting senior commander of the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell, August 8th, 2018 for tactical combat physical training.

The event culminated three weeks training at Fort Campbell for the Army’s Cadet Troop Leader Training program, and required these future officers to navigate a 4.2-mile course with six lanes along the trail. In 10-person teams, the cadets competed for the fastest time while successfully completing requirements at each lane.

At the first lane, the Buy-In, each team member performed 60 pushups, 80 air squats and 25 burpees.

Promoter failed to sign contract for rescheduled date

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville reports that the Tacos & Tequila Festival, which was postponed in May, will not occur Friday, August 31st, 2018 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center because the promoter never paid the necessary rental fees and failed to sign the required venue rental contract.
