Clarksville, TN – The defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Austin Peay State University (APSU) volleyball team returned to campus, Monday, before opening its preseason practice slate, Wednesday.
The Governors will take part in team meetings throughout the day Tuesday. They then will hold their first practice of 2018 at 10:00am in the Foy Center.
It is the first of two practices that day with a follow-up practice at 3:00pm, also in the Foy Center.
The Governors return the bulk of last season’s team, but will certainly have a different look after the departure of OVC Player of the Year Ashley Slay and Second-Team All-OVC choice Christina White.
However, two-time OVC Setter of the Year Kristen Stucker returns for her senior campaign and the Govs will have sophomore Brooke Moore, the OVC Tournament’s Most Valuable Player, available offensively.
Reigning OVC Coach of the Year Taylor Mott, who enters her seventh season with the Governors, will still have plenty of experience available for the 2018 campaign. Stucker and Moore highlight a group of 16 athletes reporting to camp this week, including 12 returnees.
New this year, Austin Peay will play an exhibition match during its 18-day preseason window. The Governors will host Trevecca in a 3:00pm, August 21st contest at the Dunn Center. That preseason test will arrive just two days before Austin Peay travels to Kansas City, Missouri for its regular-season opener against Western Michigan, August 24th.
