Promoter failed to sign contract for rescheduled date
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville reports that the Tacos & Tequila Festival, which was postponed in May, will not occur Friday, August 31st, 2018 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center because the promoter never paid the necessary rental fees and failed to sign the required venue rental contract.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department officials said the promoter, Matt Lowney of Nashville-based Acklin Park Productions, never followed up on his promise to reschedule the original event that fell apart in May. Numerous attempts to reach Lowney in recent weeks by phone or email have been unsuccessful, officials said.
In this case, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department was in the role of facility manager, simply renting the center to a third party, and was not involved in organizing or promoting the Tacos & Tequila Festival.
“The promoter of the event failed to meet deadlines to secure the venue on the date he reserved, and he has not responded to repeated calls and emails, so the City has no choice but to notify the public that the event will not occur,” said Jennifer Letourneau, Clarksville Parks and Recreation Director.
After the Tacos & Tequila Festival scheduled for May 11th was suddenly postponed, Acklin pledged to reschedule the event for August 31st and “make it right” for ticket holders by giving refunds or granting admission to the make-up date.
An online Eventbrite page for the event lists the festival from 5:00pm-10:00pm Friday, but it also shows that tickets are “unavailable” and refers to a “no refunds” ticket policy. Ticket holders are advised to seek information about refunds or other remedies through the Eventbrite platform.
