APSU Women’s Cross Country stays hot at Rhodes College Invitational

APSU Women's Cross CountryMemphis, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s cross country team was led by the freshman Maisie Lay, who propelled the Governors into another great finish at the Rhodes College Invitational.

The Governors placed sixth out of the 20 teams in the six-kilometer race, with the Govs running a 6k for the first time this season. Union came out with the win and total time of 1:57.44. Lay placed eighth among individuals with the time of 23:15.00.

Senior Caroline Kiplagat recorded another top-15 finish for the Govs, placing 15th with a time of 23:46.2. Molly Howard just missed a top-25 finish by less than a second as she finished 26th (24:18.7).

Next to cross for the Govs was sophomore Alura Endres (41st) as she timed out at 25:20.4. Freshmen Larin Harr and Mikaela Smith recorded top-50 finishes for the Govs as they placed 49th and 50th with less than a second separating the two (25:43.4 and 25:44.0).

Keleah Shell placed 53rd with the time of 25.53.2. The duo of Jada Hale and Sophia Wilson finished sequentially by less than a second with the times of 26:10.5 and 26:11.2 (62nd and 63rd). Freshmen Madison Morstad (90th)and Lexie Nicholas (128th) finished off the Austin Peay day with the times of 27:32.7 and 30:32.7.

Head coach Doug Molnar came out impressed with his team after the Rhodes invitational. “This is a young group and they go out and compete; even at the longer race, they weren’t afraid,” stated Molnar. “This group has a very bright future.”
