The soccer team went 5-2 during their pre-OVC slate of matches and remained undefeated at home by going 1-0-1 in their two OVC matches this past weekend versus Belmont and Tennessee Tech.

They are also currently one of the four OVC teams to not suffer a loss in the opening weekend of conference play, with Tennessee Martin and Murray State sitting at 1-0 after the weekend while the Govs and Eastern Illinois are 1-0-1.

Soccer will continue OVC play this week with matches at Southern Illinois Edwardsville on September 21st and Eastern Illinois on September 23rd.

While soccer takes its first OVC road trip of the year this week, volleyball opens defense of its OVC championship title with a pair of road contests at Southeast Missouri on September 21st and Tennessee Martin on September 22nd.

APSU Volleyball enters OVC play as the only team in the conference having already won 10 matches this season, currently holding an overall mark of 10-2, and were picked to finish second in the OVC pre-season poll.

Included in those victories were two in-season tournaments titles for the Govs having gone 3-0 at both the Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroo Klassic and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raider Bash to open the season.

The volleyball team’s conference home opener at the Dunn Center will be on September 25th versus Murray State.

Finally, after scoring an all-time program single-game high 78 points this past weekend versus Morehead State, the Austin Peay State University football team — who currently stands at 2-1 and were picked to finish second in the conference’s pre-season poll – opens OVC play at Tennessee Martin on September 22nd.

The matchup versus the Skyhawks, who were picked to finish third in the conference’s pre-season poll – but are currently 0-3 this season — is the first of two straight road conference games for the Govs, with a showdown versus four-time defending OVC champion Jacksonville State coming a week later on September 29th.

The APSU football team’s home OVC opener at Fortera Stadium will be versus Tennessee State on October 6th.
