APSU Women's Cross CountryClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s cross country team is once again set to host the 2018 Austin Peay Cross Country Festival. The Governors 5k race will begin at approximately 9:45am, Saturday, September 22nd as part of an all-day event at Hilldale Family Life Center and is free to the public.

The Governors are up against an OVC opponent in Tennessee State and familiar team who they have already raced against two weeks ago at the UAH Chargers Open in Evansville. Student-athletes from Alabama A&M, Kentucky Wesleyan and Lawson State also will compete.

Freshman Maisie Lay and senior Caroline Kiplagat looks to grab another top-15 finish for the Govs, while another freshman, Molly Howard, intends to secure another top-25 finish in what has already been a strong first season as a Gov.

Alura Endres, Mikaela Smith, and remaining Govs are ready to thrive and seize the opportunity for another great team finish as they head into this weekend.

Head Coach Doug Molnar is concerned about his young team and how the injury bug is creeping its way into the Govs’ locker room.

“We need to get healthy,” said Molnar. “[However, it’s] always nice to run at home and we look to keep improving.”

Details regarding the home meet will be under the additional links tab on the cross country home page at www.LetsGoPeay.com
